What type of marine battery should I buy for a trolling motor?

I have a 12 foot aluminum boat and I just bought a trolling motor for it but I am not sure what kind of battery to buy to run it.

What type of marine battery should I buy for a trolling motor?

  1. MR. T. says:

Look under the pedal and check all the connections, to make sure there is no corrosion and they are tight. Also check for what might look like black spots on the connectors.
You have some kind of short, after a period of time the motor gets hot. It is probably thermally protected, once it cools down the thermal OL resets itself.
It is possible the motor itself is shorting, you will need a new trolling motor, SORRY

Pound it into a bowl shape with a bowling ball or a shot put. Make sure that the amount of water that it would take to fill it up weighs more than it does. Then it will float on water when it's empty.

Weight of water displaced = Weight of aluminum boat

    Water is 1,000 kg/m^3 or 1g/cm^3

    Hope that helped.
